American Heritage Girls

AHG Troop OH2808

Our American Heritage Girls (AHG) program serves as an outreach ministry of St. Augustine’s Anglican Church for girls between the ages of 5 and 18 in the Westerville and surrounding areas.  AHG is a Christ-centered scout-type character development program, dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. Our AHG girls participate in badge programs, service projects, leadership opportunities, and outdoor experiences, all with an emphasis on Christian values and family involvement.

Originally chartered in 2018, our AHG ministry is strongly supported by a local community of parents and volunteers who have witnessed the difference that the organization makes in their daughters.  The program emphases create a well-rounded experience for girls, allowing them to become a Christ-following servant leader who is honoring and relational, competent, and anchored in Christ.   As we enter our fourth year at St. Augustine’s we’re looking to grow and expand – yet again – and possibly grow half again as large.

The Columbus Area is served by over ten AHG Troops and has over 400 members, allowing for greater impact amongst our current membership through regional or multi-troop events, special girl leadership training days, and camping opportunities.   AHG adult members and volunteers enjoy hands-on, meaningful training and support from both local AHG members and from the national headquarters in Cincinnati.

Our 2022-2023 Program Year theme is “SHINE”, and our verse is Matthew 5:14-16.

We sincerely hope that we can raise our girls to become lights for the world, and that through our actions and words that His light will shine through us, and instill a love of Christ and all others into our wonderful Troop members. We’re always looking for volunteers with a heart for service and for these girls to assist with Troop activities, share experiences and possibly even teach a badge or two!  If you’re interested in becoming an adult member volunteer — or know of any girl who would benefit from the program, please contact Wendy Winkler (email link below), and she’ll be happy to get you started on this grand journey.
